AGWA Timber

AGWA operate the Ormsary sawmill, using the product of sustainable woodland management to saw green timber beams for building and renovation projects as well as for access projects when bridges and signposts are needed. We also supply air dried or seasoned wood for a wide range of uses such as lintels & fire surrounds, turnery, furniture, and shelves.

Sawing material

If you have a log, or a load of logs, that you would like milled, we can do this for you. Material is sawn under cover (much more comfortable for all concerned!), using a large electric bandsaw for primary breakdown.

Oak waiting for the sawmill

Stocks. We hold stocks of round wood material which is suitable for use as green beams & access furniture , whether an individual lintel, or a set of joists. Oak and selected softwoods such as Douglas fir and larch are the preferred timbers for this, and the softwood also makes good cladding for the outside of houses and sheds.

Air dried material is available in a range of species, qualities and dimensions. We've usually got quantities of oak, which is great for garden furniture, as well as beech, and sycamore which can be conditioned for use indoors. We've also got quantities of smaller and more unusual material which should tempt the turner, as well as air dried Douglas fir and spruce.

timber planks seasoning

Machining is available at Ormsary, where we have a 20 inch planner thicknesser, as well as a radial arm saw and a secondary bandsaw.

Timescales & Quantities Our priority is to supply quantities of local timber to AGWA members and local end users, mostly on a small scale. We sometimes have capacity to produce timber on a larger scale and for customers from further away. However any larger project needs a considerable lead in period.
