I have been involved in various aspects of the woodworking business for over 30 years. In Boat Building I have used many exotic tropical hardwoods such as Teak, Iroko, and Mahogany. In the construction industry I have used imported softwoods, many containing toxic chemical (preservatives etc).
Increasingly over the years I have realised that in this country, specifically Argyll, we have timber which has qualities similar, if not superior, to much of that which is imported. By using home grown materials many of the unfriendly environmental and Political / Economic effects of importation can be avoided and at the same time local industries can be stimulated and supported.

With this increasing interest and awareness in mind along with the difficulty in obtaining timber of non-standard dimension, I bought a mobile sawmill 5 years ago with a view to supplying this demand. I now provide timber for Boat Builders, Wood Carvers and Turners, Builders and Landscapers.
